Download the installer from our Download page, run DeckaiSetup_v2.1.4.exe, and follow the on-screen steps. The installer automatically registers DECKAI Camera and DECKAI Mic as Windows virtual devices. You'll see them in Device Manager under Camera and Audio devices. Total installation time is typically under 2 minutes.

Yes, it is completely safe. Windows SmartScreen sometimes warns about less common apps, even when they are code-signed. DECKAI's installer is digitally signed with an EV (Extended Validation) code signing certificate. To proceed: click "More info" on the SmartScreen dialog, then click "Run anyway". You can also right-click the installer → Properties → check "This file came from the internet" → click "Unblock" → OK, then run it normally.

Try these steps in order: (1) Make sure DECKAI is running — look for the tray icon in the system clock area. DECKAI Camera only appears when DECKAI is active. (2) Restart the target app completely. (3) If using a browser-based app (WhatsApp Web, Instagram Web), allow camera permissions for that site. (4) In rare cases, you may need to run DECKAI as administrator. Right-click the DECKAI icon → "Run as administrator". If the problem persists, contact support at support@deckai.com.

Uninstall DECKAI from Windows Settings → Apps → Installed Apps → DECKAI → Uninstall. The uninstaller automatically removes DECKAI Camera, DECKAI Mic, all driver files, and registry entries. Your avatar library and voice clones stored in your account remain accessible if you reinstall later. Local files are stored in %AppData%\DECKAI and are removed during uninstall.

Yes. Your DECKAI account can be installed on up to 2 computers simultaneously (Free and Pro plans). Creator plan allows up to 5 simultaneous activations. Your avatars, voice clones, and settings sync across all your devices through your DECKAI account automatically.

DECKAI uses MediaPipe's Face Mesh (478 landmark points) combined with a neural rendering model trained on millions of face pairs. The realistic human avatars are photo-realistic and track your expressions — including eye blinks, eyebrow raises, mouth open/close, and head tilts. In good lighting conditions, most people cannot distinguish a DECKAI realistic avatar from a real face on a video call. Anime and fantasy avatars are clearly stylized but track expressions just as accurately.

Yes. Open the Voice Cloner in DECKAI, click Record, and read the displayed passage for 30 seconds. DECKAI uploads this audio to our voice synthesis server (the only time audio leaves your PC), generates a voice model, and downloads it back to your device within 60-90 seconds. After that, all voice transformation happens entirely locally. The resulting voice clone captures your (or any voice you record) pitch, timbre, cadence, and accent. The quality improves with longer recordings — 2-3 minutes gives noticeably richer results.

DECKAI's live translation supports 30 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil & Portugal), Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Greek, Bulgarian, Catalan, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. Input language is auto-detected. New languages are added quarterly.

Custom avatar upload is available on the Creator plan. You can upload a set of reference photos of a face (minimum 10 photos from different angles) and DECKAI will generate a custom avatar model from them. This process takes 5-15 minutes and happens on our servers. The resulting avatar is private to your account. Custom avatars are ideal for branding, virtual characters, or persistent online personas. The upload tool is in Settings → My Avatars → Create Custom.

Partially. Core features (face swap, voice cloning, background replacement) run entirely offline once set up. DECKAI requires internet for: initial account login, avatar library browsing and downloads, voice clone creation (one-time upload), live translation, and automatic updates. If you're in a location with no internet, DECKAI will run in offline mode using your previously downloaded avatars and voice models — everything you've cached locally will still work.

No. The free plan requires only an email address and password. No credit card, no payment details, no trial expiry. The free plan is genuinely free forever. You'll only need a payment method if you decide to upgrade to Pro or Creator.

When you cancel, your account downgrades to the free tier at the end of your paid billing period. Your saved avatars, voice clones, and custom environments are preserved in your account — they're simply locked until you upgrade again. Nothing is deleted. If you want your account fully deleted, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Data deletion is permanent and completed within 30 days per our privacy policy.

If you're not satisfied for any reason within 14 days of your first payment, email support@deckai.com with your order number and we'll process a full refund within 3-5 business days. After 14 days, refunds are handled case-by-case for extenuating circumstances.

With a dedicated GPU, DECKAI uses approximately 20-35% of a mid-range GPU (RTX 3060) and 5-10% CPU at 1080p 30fps. At 1080p 60fps (Creator), GPU usage rises to 50-70%. RAM usage is typically 1.5-2.5 GB depending on avatar complexity. On CPU-only systems (no discrete GPU), expect 40-70% CPU usage at reduced quality. DECKAI includes a Performance Monitor in the tray menu so you can check live resource usage at any time.

DECKAI adds under 40ms of latency on a mid-range GPU, which is imperceptible in conversation. Video quality matches your plan tier (720p on Free, 1080p on Pro/Creator). Because DECKAI outputs a perfectly rendered image rather than raw webcam feed, the output is often higher quality than a typical webcam at the same resolution — no grain, no motion blur, consistent lighting. For voice, DECKAI also includes noise cancellation which often improves call quality compared to your raw mic.

Yes. DECKAI supports both NVIDIA (CUDA) and AMD (ROCm) GPUs for hardware acceleration. NVIDIA GPUs (GTX 1060 or newer) have slightly better performance due to more mature CUDA support. AMD GPUs (RX 580 or newer) work well and are fully supported. Intel Arc GPUs are also supported via OpenVINO acceleration. DECKAI automatically detects the best inference backend for your hardware during first launch.

Try these steps: (1) Reduce output resolution in Settings → Output Quality (try 720p if on 1080p). (2) Close other GPU-heavy apps. (3) Update your GPU drivers to the latest version. (4) In DECKAI Settings → Performance, switch from "Quality" to "Performance" mode. (5) Check for Windows Updates — some older builds have DirectShow compatibility issues. (6) If using integrated graphics, try enabling "CPU Mode" in DECKAI settings. If crashes persist, email support@deckai.com with your system specs and DECKAI log file (found in %AppData%\DECKAI\logs).

Some antivirus tools may flag DECKAI's virtual device drivers because they intercept camera and microphone inputs — a behavior that security software watches closely. DECKAI is safe and code-signed, but you may need to add an exception for DECKAI in your antivirus. If Windows Defender flags DECKAI, go to Windows Security → Virus & Threat Protection → Protection History → find the DECKAI alert → Actions → Allow. Tested and working with Malwarebytes, AVG, Avast, Bitdefender, and Norton. Kaspersky users may need additional exclusions for the virtual device drivers.
